The Oceanside Baseball Association is a not for profit, volunteer run, chartered association. We are looking for a number of motivated individuals within the community to assist in the seamless execution of the baseball season. These volunteer roles do not require previous experience, just a willingness to learn, demonstrate reliability and a passion to give back to the community. Many hands make light work for all and provide exceptional opportunities for our children and youth ball players.

Volunteer Roles

Coaches
Coaches and Assistant coaches for all divisions. Coaches primary responsibilities will be Practice Planning, Game Planning, Player Development, Communication and Team Managment. All coaches are required to have a Criminal Record check and Safe Sport. House League Head coaches will need to be NCCP Certified for the age division they are coaching.

All Coordinator roles are invited to attend monthly Board Meetings (first Wednesday of each month) to provide updates as required.​​​​​​​

Registrar (Filled)
The Registrar is an essential administrator position. They handle all aspects of player registration, ensuring everyone meets league requirements and all paperwork is correctly filed. The registrar ensures all fees are paid and up to date. They are also a key communication link between parents, coaches, and league officials. Keep a list of all player names, addresses, personal information and date on which they become a member. Submit player information by division to BC Minor Baseball. The Registrar always needs to be organized, detail-oriented, and good with people and technology.

Division Coordinators

The Coordinator for each division will be responsible for organizing player evaluations and organizing the team draft, scheduling practices and game times. They will also be responsible for communicating information from the league to each team and vice versa by attending a board meeting once a month. Forming house teams will begin at the beggining of April. Although there may be Coach Volunteers the coordinators may have to reach out to certain teams to ask for Coaches and Assistants. Practice and Game day fields will be booked with the Regsitrar. The Coordinators, will also work with the uniform, equipment coordinator to provide them with numbers of players on each team as well as communicate to the managers and of each team on the behalf of these coordinators. This position is suitable for an organized individual who is  Proficient in a variety of computer applications, including word processing, Excel spreadsheets, email systems, and organizational tools.

Equipment Coordinator (Filled)

The Equipment Coordinator works with the Board of Directors, to ensure that the equipment inventory is ordered and maintained. The Equipment Coordinator is responsible for ordering, allocating and tracking equipment and supplies for the season. The Equipment Coordinator will be responsible for providing equipment for each team. They will be the contact person for Division Coordinators if any teams need more equipment during the season. This person will also be responsible for setting up a time at the beginning of the season for coaches to pick up equipment as well at the end of the season to return. Works with the Division Coordinators for distribution to coaches and/or managers of each team. This position is best suited for an adult individual who is organized and has solid baseball knowledge.

Uniform Coordinator (Filled)

This person will be responsible for uniforms. They will work with the Registrar and Coordinators to figure out team numbers. They will keep track of invenotry of all uniforms and OMBA Merchandise and present to the board  what is needed to be order prior to each season. Once uniforms arrive this person will, organize with division coordinators distribution of uniforms to division coordinators. This person is also repsonisble for sales of OMBA merchandise and ordering. 

Field Coordinator

The Field Coordinator is responsible for working with the board of directors, to ensure that the OMBA fields are maintained in playable condition. This includes the following tasks: check field lines, check grass conditions, summarize issues for communication to municipalities by the President, organize work crews for appropriate volunteer repairs. This role is suitable for an adult who is comfortable with physical labour and who has a vehicle with capacity for carrying equipment.

Sponsorship Coordinator (Filled)

The Sponsorship Coordinator works closely with The Board of Directors to identify, recruit and secure sponsorship opportunities within the community in exchange for advertising and promotional opportunities within the association. 

Umpire Coordinator (Filled)

The Umpire Coordinator working closely with the Umpire in Chief, the Umpire Coordinator will look after the scheduling and communicating with the umpires for upcoming League games, tournaments, regionals, and Provincials if hosting. Knowledge of umpiring is a strong asset. 

NCCP Coordinator

The NCCP Coordinator is responsible for maintaining an up-to-date coaches’ spreadsheet, tracking NCCP numbers and completed training. This role involves clear communication with coaches about required courses, assisting in the organization of coaching clinics, and supporting coordinators to ensure that new volunteers meet the necessary qualifications to coach youth. The position is particularly active during the summer months, ensuring the organization is equipped with fully trained coaches for the competitive season.
